Lean Mindsets and Behaviors - FULL

Creating a high-performance climate for sustained transformation

Workshop Code: MW-01

Day & Time: Monday, Oct 15, 2012 - 8:00 AM

Length: 8 hours

Cost: $300.00 USD

When people talk about lean, we often hear them talking about the challenges: "It's 10 percent tools and 90 percent people." "We need to change the culture." "They just don't get it." All of these statements show what we need to make our transformations successful - we need to help people to change their behaviors. If we don't change the way our people think and behave on a day-to-day basis, we can't expect to significantly impact performance. That's where this workshop can help.

This workshop includes both theory and practical application of the behaviors that promote excellence: 1) organizational clarity, 2) focus, 3) discipline and 4) widespread employee engagement. The workshop activities address all four of these dimensions: 1) the clarity activity focuses on the words we use and how ambiguous and "softened" language hinders performance; 2) the focus activity is a timed simulation that demonstrates how working on fewer projects at a time increases the total number of projects completed in a comparable given time period; 3) the discipline activity has the participants learn metrics-based process mapping, a highly disciplined process for standardizing work; and 4) the engagement activity has participants practice techniques that lead to engagement or disengagement.

If you're struggling to engage your people in lean implementation, this is a workshop you will not want to miss.

In this workshop:

  • Learn specific macro- and micro-behaviors that are at the core of excellence.
  • Find out how to identify the gaps between what is and what needs to be.
  • Learn how to develop an operational climate that leverages collaborative workforce development.
  • Hear how to develop appropriate behaviors at different levels throughout your organization.
  • Learn how to instill and reinforce the new ways of operating.
