Cross-Functional Collaboration
Linking functional and manufacturing groups with an integrated collaboration value stream
Presentation Code: VS6-07
Value Stream: VS6 - Collaborative & Innovative Lean
Day & Time: Thursday, Oct 18, 2012 - 9:30 AM
Length: 1 hour, 10 minutes
When you serve different customers with unique requirements, you often find yourself establishing groups that work independently. However, to achieve the next level of performance you need these groups to work more collaboratively. That's why Northrop Grumman is piloting a process for creating cross-functional deliverables using failure analysis and corrective action. It's a successful process that 1) minimizes information rework loops, 2) reduces the impact of signature cycles and 3) provides the highest chance of acceptance from your customer. This same approach could be used for other value streams involving the coordination and flow of information across functional boundaries. This presentation will describe the approach and describe how you may be able to use it for your business.
In this presentation:
- Find out how lean can help coordinate and streamline information flow.
- Systematically connect different functional organizations working towards a common deliverable.
- Discover the business benefits of having groups work more collaboratively.
- Learn how your business can benefit from this style of value stream mapping.
