Presentation Code: VS2-05
Value Stream: VS2 - Sustaining Lean & Delivering Results
Day & Time: Wednesday, Oct 17, 2012 - 11:00 AM
Length: 1 hour, 10 minutes
In an effort to conform to medical device regulations, Teleflex created processes that led to redundancies and waste. But they soon realized they could reduce this waste without sacrificing quality or safety. They began re-engineering the self-imposed barriers, sped up the processes and reduced the backorders that drove customers away. The culture began to shift, and the company's teams became more effective and accountable to the needs of internal and external customers. Teleflex now deploys lean tools, improves quality and speeds up the process. This presentation will show you how they did this and how these lessons may help your business.
In this presentation:
- Reduce redundancies and waste.
- Develop effective value streams.
- Realign support functions.
- Embrace individual accountability.
- Shift employee and management culture.
- Employ a suggestion/implementation program.
- Take home lessons you can use for your business.
Teleflex
Teleflex is a leading global provider of specialty medical devices for a range of procedures in critical care and surgery. With the help of Teleflex veterans, it is turning a tribal knowledge-based manufacturing company into a lean culture using DMAIC methodology, ASQ Body of Knowledge and the Teleflex Production System.
Donna Radford
Donna Radford is the continuous improvement manager at Teleflex. Before joining the medical devices industry, she was a filling machine operator at Campbell Soup and then a production manager building automotive transmissions for a class 8 truck market. Lean became a way of life for Donna, a means of survival when margins were minimal and cost reductions were mandated by customers. Donna now applies those efficiencies and techniques to the medical devices industry.Value Stream presentations and Special Interest Sessions are open to all registered conference attendees.
